課程概述 |
This is the 3rd section of a series of 4 semester training in diagnostics and management of farm animal diseases which aims to expand veterinary graduate students’ clinical experience in farm animal medicine. The goal will be achieved by taking rotations at our diagnostic laboratories with training opportunities in diagnostic, interpreting and management techniques for various farm animal diseases, including diseases of cattle, horses, sheep, pigs and goats. |

課程目標 |
During this semester, students will be able to independently conduct various diagnostic tests for farm animal diseases in season, and interpret the test results with minimal faculty members’ supervision. In addition, they will start giving farm management advices to the referring veterinarians, industry managers and farmers under faculty members’ supervision.
The rotation of this section will start on August 1st of the year and ends on January 31th of the following year.
Diagnostic tests of caprine/ovine diseases commonly requested by the referring veterinarians, industry managers and farmers may include:
(83e3) Bluetongue, AGID or FA
(83e3) Caprine arthritis encephalitis, AGID or ELISA
(83e3) Epizootic hemorrhagic disease, FA or AGID
(83e3) Food and mouth disease, ELISA, SN or RT-PCR
(83e3) Orf (contagious pustular dermatitis, contagious ecthyma), FA
(83e3) Ovine progressive pneumonia, AGID or ELISA
(83e3) Sheep/goat pox, EM, FA, SN
(83e3) Culture, aerobic bacteria, anaerobic bacteria, Mycoplasma, Brucella, Mycobacterium or mycology
(83e3) Clostridium perfringens, toxin typing (DNA amplification)
(83e3) Leptospira, PCR or MAT (7 serovars) - food animal serology panel
(83e3) Ovine Clamydiosis, ELISA or PCR
(83e3) Q fever, ELISA or FA
(83e3) Salmonella, PCR or serotyping
(83e3) Johne's ELISA
(83e3) Listeria monocytogenes, PCR
(83e3) Toxoplasmosis/IgG/IgM, IFA
(83e3) Susceptibility panel, full MIC w/ interpretation
(83e3) Nutritional profile, serum (Vit A & E, Cu, Zn, Se)
